Introducing MoLock 3.0: one home at 7ot.app

Version 3.0 is the biggest step since MoLock Account: one address for everything, your own inbox inside the app, family controls, a much faster converter and an install that is far harder to tamper with. Here is what changed, and what deliberately did not.

MoLock started as a lock screen for one PC, then grew an account, an official bot, remote control, an encrypted vault and a set of everyday tools. Version 3.0 brings all of it under one roof and makes it sturdy enough for a household. It also introduces plans for the first time; the short version is that nothing on your PC stops protecting you because of a plan.

One address for everything: 7ot.app

From 3.0, MoLock has a single home: 7ot.app. The website, your dashboard, remote control, linking a new PC, share links, passkeys, email and the official bot all use the same address. One name is easier to remember and, most importantly, easier to check: if a page asks for your MoLock password and it is not on 7ot.app, it is not MoLock. System emails, such as a sign-in from a new browser or a serial being activated, now come from noreply@7ot.app too.

Nothing breaks for anyone still on an older version: installed apps keep working as before, and old links forward to the same page on 7ot.app. Your PCs keep their identity and keys, so there is nothing to re-link.

Free and Premium, in one minute

Free is the MoLock you already know, plus the new things that suit one person: an email address, the everyday converter, remote control with a daily allowance, share links and the encrypted vault. It stays free and has no ads. Premium is for a household or a small office that needs more room. By default:

  • PCs on your account: 2 on Free, 10 on Premium.
  • Storage for files, mail and session recordings together: 500 MB on Free, 20 GB on Premium. A single file can be up to 100 MB on Free and up to 4 GB on Premium.
  • Email: 20 messages a day on Free, 500 on Premium.
  • Remote control: 60 minutes a day on Free; unlimited minutes and session recording on Premium.
  • Converter: basic on Free; the pro converter on Premium.
  • History of your daily modules such as screen time: 30 days on Free, 400 days on Premium. Synced notes, to-dos and reminders: 500 on Free, unlimited on Premium.
  • Family controls for up to 6 members and priority support come with Premium.

Premium is not bought with a card on the website. It comes as a serial, a code that looks like 7OT-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX, sold directly by MoLock. You enter it on the PC, during setup or in Settings → Plan, or in your dashboard, and one serial can cover several PCs. The Premium page shows how to get one, and Premium and serials, explained covers every detail, from moving a PC to what happens when a serial ends.

Your own address: name@7ot.app

Every MoLock account can now have an email address of its own, on both plans. Pick it during setup or later in the dashboard with Create my 7ot.app email. You can also hand out variations such as name+shopping@7ot.app: they arrive in the same inbox, so you can see which shop passed your address on.

Mail lives in a new Mail window inside the app and in your dashboard. A small notification tells you who wrote (it stays quiet during focus time), and the tray icon shows a badge.

Once a message is stored, it is encrypted with your own account key, like the rest of your private MoLock data, so the service cannot go back and read it. Likely spam lands in the Spam folder. Your free 7ot.app email walks through setup and privacy.

Family and parental controls

Premium accounts can create a family group: the owner plus up to six members, invited with a link or a QR code. A child gets a profile tied to their PC. From the family page, a parent sets daily limits, a bedtime schedule with MoLock's calm lock screen, and blocking for categories of apps and sites. A weekly report sums up the week.

The gentlest feature is our favourite: ask for more time. The child sends a request from the PC; the parent answers from the dashboard, the bot or a phone notification with +15, +30 or +60 minutes, or a polite no. A daily argument becomes a short, respectful exchange. The PC's location is shared only after a consent screen, and tamper alerts tell you if someone works around the rules. See Family controls, done right.

A converter built for speed

The right-click converter has grown into a full module. The basic converter, included on Free, handles images, everyday PDF tasks, text and archives. The pro converter, on Premium, adds video, audio, office documents and ebooks, saved presets and batches of more than 20 files. Together they cover hundreds of format pairs and show the size before and after.

Speed was the main goal. When your PC has a graphics chip with a hardware encoder, the converter uses it. When the target format allows it, video and audio are copied across without being re-encoded at all, which is often the difference between minutes and seconds. Heavier engines download only when first needed, and each download is checked before use. More in Convert any file, fast and on the converter page.

Safer installs: Program Files, a launch password and verified updates

MoLock 3.0 installs for the whole machine in Program Files, the folder Windows protects from ordinary programs. Windows asks for permission once, and you get a Start menu entry and a Desktop shortcut. Your settings and data stay in your own user profile, and an existing install is moved over automatically.

Updates then arrive silently through MoLock's own protection service, without a prompt each time, and each one is checked against its expected fingerprint before it is installed.

The most visible change is the launch password. Opening the MoLock window, from any shortcut or the tray, now asks for your password while protection is on, which it is by default. A wrong password is logged, can take an intruder photo if enabled, and alerts you; after several wrong attempts the window locks for a while.

A privacy app that anyone can open and switch off is only a suggestion. In 3.0, the settings sit behind the same password as the screen.

One welcome side effect: the encrypted vault drive now handles large files properly, up to 4 GB each. Safer installs, explained and the secure install page go into detail.

Remote control, upgraded

Remote control from your phone gets its largest update since it launched:

  • A direct connection between phone and PC whenever the network allows, with the same end-to-end encryption inside, and an automatic fallback to the relay. Video adapts to your connection.
  • View-only guests invited by link. You approve each one.
  • Session chat, clipboard images and dragging files out of the session.
  • A latency indicator, smoother reconnection and many touches on the phone.

Free accounts get 60 minutes of remote control a day; Premium has no daily limit and adds session recording. New to it? Start with Control your PC from your phone.

Smaller things you will notice every day

The adhan, out loud

Prayer times now come with adhan audio. Choose a muezzin and the full adhan, a short version or a gentle chime; a notification and a lock-screen banner announce the prayer. Times are calculated on the PC by default, so they work offline. Prayer times on your desktop explains the calculation methods.

A hadith, when you want one

The new hadith widget is off by default and entirely optional. When you turn it on, it shows a curated set of authentic hadiths in their original Arabic with the source, the number and the grading, at an interval you choose from every 15 minutes to once a day, on the desktop, on the lock screen or as a notification. It does not repeat a hadith until it has shown the whole set.

Notifications where you want them

Alerts can now reach you through four channels: the official bot, your dashboard, push notifications in your browser on phone or PC, and email. You choose the channel for each kind of alert in the dashboard. See notifications.

Settings, rebuilt

The long row of settings tabs is now a set of clear groups, from Protection and Lock screen to Account & plan, Tools and Wellbeing, with a search box that finds any option by name. A short What's new tour shows you around after the update, and announcements now appear right in the app and the dashboard.

Getting 3.0

  1. Update or download. Installed copies update themselves; you can also get the installer from the download page. Windows asks for permission once while MoLock moves into Program Files.
  2. Take the tour. It takes a minute and shows where everything moved in Settings.
  3. Confirm your launch password. It is the same password as your lock screen, and it is on by default.
  4. Claim your email address. Pick a handle in the app or in the dashboard while the name you want is still free.
  5. Check your plan. Settings → Plan shows whether this PC is on Free or Premium. If you have a serial, enter it there.
  6. Choose your channels. In the dashboard, decide which alerts go to the bot, to push, to email or to the dashboard only.

The full list of changes is in What's new. And if you have questions about plans, the FAQ and the Premium page are the best places to start.
