Real-world scenarios: how MoLock protects your PC
You don't need a hacker in the story to need a privacy screen lock for Windows. Most moments are ordinary: you step away for a coffee, hand your PC to a technician, or leave with it unlocked. The scenarios below are illustrative. Each one shows what MoLock does — from locking the screen to catching intruders on camera — and how to turn it on.
01 / 10
New in 2.7
With MoLock Account and the official bot, your PC is within reach even when it's far away or switched off: Lost mode, approving an unlock from your phone, and encrypted share links.
-
You leave your laptop in a taxi
You get out of a taxi and, a few minutes later, realise your laptop is still on the back seat. Your phone is all you have.
What MoLock does From your account or the official bot you turn on Lost mode: the PC locks, the lock screen shows how to reach you for whoever finds it, a photo is taken at the interval you choose, and its approximate location reaches you whenever it's online. If it's switched off, the command runs the moment it connects.
Link the PC to MoLock Account beforehand from Settings → Account. Then turn the mode on from the PC's page and follow it in Find my PC.
-
A colleague needs your PC while you're out
You're in a meeting across town, a colleague needs to open a file on your locked PC, and you don't want to give them your password.
What MoLock does Your colleague presses "Request access from the owner" on the lock screen, and the official bot sends you the request with Allow once, Deny and View photo buttons. You approve, the PC unlocks once and it's logged — your password stays secret.
On by default once the PC is linked to your account; you can switch it off in Settings. Requests expire after 2 minutes, with at most 3 every 10 minutes.

New in 2.5
Version 2.5 introduced camera motion detection for anyone who approaches your locked PC, tamper alerts with a photo when someone tries to shut MoLock down, and updates from Telegram wherever you are.
-
Someone stands at your PC without touching it
The PC is locked and someone stands in front of it, studying the screen or the papers beside it, without going near the mouse or keyboard.
What MoLock does While locked, MoLock watches the webcam. The moment it detects movement, their photo reaches your Telegram in about a second with "👀 Someone came near your PC", the device name, the time and how long it has been locked — plus buttons: "📸 Another photo", "🎥 Video", "🔊 Siren" or "🔒 OK". Lighting changes don't trigger it.
On by default. Switch it on or off in
/settings(camera motion detection), and set the sensitivity and minimum time between alerts in Settings. -
Someone sits down at your café table
You locked the laptop and stepped away for two minutes — and from across the room you notice a stranger sitting in front of it.
What MoLock does Before you're back at the table, their photo is already on your phone — the camera detected the movement although nothing was touched. Tap "🔊 Siren" on the alert and the laptop sounds a loud alarm that gets them up at once.
Camera motion detection is on by default; sound the alarm from the alert button, or at any time with
/siren. -
Someone tries to pause the lock or open Settings
Someone wants free use of your PC, so they try to pause auto-lock, open MoLock's Settings or close it — guessing at the password.
What MoLock does Every wrong password at those steps sends you a tamper alert on Telegram with a photo of whoever is trying. After 3 wrong attempts the screen locks immediately. Signing out, updates and crashes never count as tampering, so there are no false alarms.
On by default. Manage them in
/settings(tamper alerts), and turn on protect settings with your password. -
A sibling ends MoLock from Task Manager
Your brother heard that any app can be ended from Task Manager, so he tries it on MoLock to have the PC to himself.
What MoLock does MoLock comes straight back — still locked if it was locked — and you receive a tamper alert with his photo, so you know who tried and when, without an argument.
Tamper alerts are on by default; keep start with Windows on. The optional guard service adds an extra layer.
-
On holiday when a new version lands
You're on holiday, the PC is locked at home, and you hear a new version is out.
What MoLock does Send
/update: the bot shows what's new and the download size — tap "⬇️ Update now". A progress message keeps you informed, then MoLock verifies the file and installs it. Because the PC is locked, it asks whether to install now (it locks again right away) or after your next unlock. Your password, settings and evidence are never touched./update, or "🆕 Update" in the app section of/menu./versionshows the version you're running. -
Your first Telegram bot
You want alerts on your phone, but you've never created a bot and it sounds complicated.
What MoLock does The setup wizard guides you step by step: create the bot with @BotFather and paste its token; the wizard checks it and shows your bot's name. Press Start in your bot and confirm "Is this you?" with your Telegram name. A test message and a full guide with commands and ready-to-try examples then arrive in the chat.
During installation or first run, or later from Settings → Alerts → "Link my bot step by step…". Bring the guide back at any time with
/guide. Details in the guide.

Work & the office
Open-plan desks, surprise meetings and a PC that holds all your work. MoLock locks it automatically and keeps watch while you're away.
-
You step away for a coffee
You leave your desk for five minutes with your inbox on screen, and a passing colleague takes a curious look.
What MoLock does After the idle time you choose, the screen locks itself, with an optional countdown warning first. If anyone comes close — even without touching anything — the camera detects the movement and their photo reaches your Telegram in about a second.
In Settings, set the idle timeout. Camera motion detection is on by default (new in 2.5). You can also lock manually with your hotkey or from the tray.
-
You get pulled into a meeting
Your manager calls you in, you leave in a hurry without locking, and the meeting runs long.
What MoLock does From your phone, mid-meeting, lock the PC in a second — or schedule it to lock in a few minutes.
In your Telegram bot:
/lockor/timer 5. Set up the bot with the guide. -
Who's at my desk?
On your break, Telegram notifies you: "👀 Someone came near your PC", with a photo.
What MoLock does Tap "📸 Another photo" or "🎥 Video" on the alert itself, or open a short live view and see for yourself. It may be a colleague looking for a document — or it may not.
Use the alert's buttons,
/herefor a quick photo, or/live 20for 20 seconds of live view. -
Leave a note for whoever's at your PC
A colleague is waiting at your desk and you're running late.
What MoLock does Display a message on the lock screen, have the PC read it aloud, or send it as a notification.
/lockmsg Back in 10 minutes, or/say//notifyfollowed by your text. -
You forgot a file on your work PC
You get home and realize tomorrow's presentation is still on your office PC.
What MoLock does Browse your folders from Telegram and retrieve the file you need, while the PC stays locked.
/filesto list,/cdto open a folder,/get 3to download item 3. -
The office PC stayed on overnight
You left late and can't remember whether you shut it down.
What MoLock does Check its state from your phone — locked, battery, uptime — then shut it down in a few minutes if you wish, and cancel if you change your mind.
/status, then/shutdown 10;/cancelto call it off. -
You're presenting to a client
Your slides are on the projector and you're talking without touching the mouse. The last thing you want is a sudden lock screen.
What MoLock does Auto-lock waits while a full-screen app is running. Need longer? Pause it for as long as you choose.
The pause on full-screen apps option in Settings, or
/pause 2hfrom Telegram or the tray. -
A USB stick as your key
You're up and down all day, and typing your password every time becomes tedious.
What MoLock does Make one USB stick a trusted key: plug it in to unlock, and remove it as you leave to lock the screen.
In Settings, turn on trusted USB key and lock when the key is removed.

Home, family & the people close to you
The family PC in the living room, a curious sibling, a friend who likes to look. Privacy without friction.
-
Kids and the family PC
The living-room PC holds your work and accounts, and the children like to use it without asking — especially late at night.
What MoLock does MoLock locks after a short idle time and can lock on a schedule, such as bedtime. No one can open Settings or quit the app without the password.
Set a lock schedule in Settings and turn on protect settings with your password.
-
Your child wants the "cool" lock screen
Your child keeps asking: "Is it locked? Can I see?"
What MoLock does Choose one of 35 animated themes together — Arcade, Cotton Candy, Deep Space — with a playful unlock animation, or set an animated GIF as the background. The lock becomes something they enjoy, not something they resent. Themes are light on the PC, and lighter still since 2.5.
Browse them on the themes page and choose one in Settings.
-
A sibling or roommate reads your chats
WhatsApp Web is open on the PC and you're in the kitchen.
What MoLock does The lock screen covers every monitor, and there's no password box to tamper with. If they try anyway, you receive photos, a clip with sound and even what they typed.
Idle lock or your hotkey, with Telegram alerts on. Details on Protection.
-
A curious friend or partner
Someone close to you likes to take "a quick look" at your PC when you're out.
What MoLock does There's no need to accuse anyone. If there's an attempt, you'll know when it happened, with evidence — and you decide whether to raise it.
The someone approaches alert and camera motion detection in
/settings, and/lastintruderfor the latest attempt. -
You left home with the PC unlocked
On the bus you remember the PC is unlocked and guests are still at home.

/lockor/timer 5. Every command is on the commands page. -
Family movie night
A two-hour film on the big screen, and no one will touch the mouse.
What MoLock does While the film plays full-screen, auto-lock waits. Watching in a window? Pause it.
Pause on full-screen apps, or
/pause 2hand/resumeto switch back. -
Turn the screen off remotely
You're in bed and the monitor is lighting up the whole living room.
What MoLock does Switch the screen off from your phone and wake it whenever you like — or have it turn off with every lock.

You forgot your password
You changed it yesterday, it has slipped your mind, and the PC is locked in front of you.
What MoLock does Type the recovery code you received at setup, or set a new password from Telegram even while locked. Anything sensitive the bot sends disappears after two minutes.

Public places
Cafés, libraries, university labs and coworking spaces: good places to work, with many eyes around.
-
At the café, you walk off with your phone
You're working in a café or coworking space and get up to order, leaving the laptop on the table.
What MoLock does Pair your phone as a trusted Bluetooth device: when it moves away and disconnects, the screen locks; while it's connected, the PC unlocks.
In Settings: trusted Bluetooth device and lock when it goes away.
-
In the library
You go to fetch a book from the shelves; a video is playing and the room is quiet.
What MoLock does The screen locks after a short while and mutes the audio, so no one is disturbed.
A short idle timeout and the mute audio when locked option.
-
In the university lab
You leave your laptop on the bench to ask the teaching assistant something, in a lab full of students.
What MoLock does Lock it with your hotkey as you stand up. If someone tries to open it as a prank, the whole attempt is recorded and sent to you.
Choose your lock hotkey in Settings; evidence is collected in the evidence timeline, available from the tray.
-
Someone watches you unlock
In a crowded place, someone beside you watches the screen while you type your password.
What MoLock does There's no box and no dots — only a subtle typing pulse that never reveals the length of your password.
Works out of the box: type your password at any moment on the lock screen.

Theft, loss & travel
When the PC is truly out of reach, Telegram becomes your eyes and hands: location, camera and full control.
-
Your laptop is stolen
The laptop disappeared from your bag. Once someone opens it and it goes online, you have tools to help.
What MoLock does Get its detailed location and a map pin, have it report its position every few minutes, and quietly photograph whoever is using it. Then hand that information to the authorities.
/where,/locate,/geoloop 5,/photo(or/silentphoto). -
You left it in a taxi
You lost it, and whoever found it probably wants to return it but has no idea whose it is.
What MoLock does Put your number on the lock screen, and have the PC announce aloud that it's lost and how to reach you.
/lockmsgwith a contact number, and/sayfor a spoken message. -
Travelling, PC left at home
You're away for a week and the PC stays at home or in the office.
What MoLock does Make sure auto-lock isn't paused, check on the PC daily from your phone, and track it if it moves.
/statusshows whether a pause is active,/resumerestores auto-lock, and/geoloop 5tracks location (stop it with/geoloop off). -
The internet is down while someone tries
The router is off and someone is trying passwords on your PC.
What MoLock does Evidence is still captured on the PC and queued; as soon as the connection returns, it's sent to you automatically.
Nothing to configure — automatic retry is always on. You can follow delivery status in the evidence timeline.

Attempts to get past the lock
Guessing the password, closing the app or forcing you to unlock. Each attempt meets a calm, deliberate response.
-
Someone tries to guess your password
Someone sits down and starts guessing: your birthday, your name, 123456…
What MoLock does Before they type a single key, the camera has detected them and their photo is on your phone. Then each wrong attempt becomes an evidence report: a photo burst, a clip with sound, a screenshot, the location and what they typed — in one Telegram album. After a few attempts, a cooldown begins.
Link Telegram with the guide, and set the number of attempts and the cooldown in Settings.
-
Someone tries to close or end the app
Someone with some technical knowledge tries to quit MoLock or end it from Task Manager.
What MoLock does While locked, Task Manager is blocked. Exiting and Settings are password-protected, and a wrong password there — or ending MoLock from Task Manager — sends you a tamper alert with a photo. If it's ended anyway, the guardian restarts it immediately, still locked if it was locked.
Turn on protect settings and start with Windows, plus the optional guard service if you wish. Tamper alerts are on by default.
-
Someone forces you to unlock
A difficult moment: someone pressures you to unlock the PC in front of them.
What MoLock does Type your duress password: the PC opens as normal, while a silent alert and photo go to your Telegram and the event is logged.
Set a duress password in Settings — different from your main one.
-
Someone plugs in a USB stick
While you're away, someone plugs a USB stick into the PC.
What MoLock does Every USB insertion is recorded in the activity log with its time, so you can review later what happened.
Turn on log USB insertions in Settings; review the log in the app or with
/log. -
A decoy screen
You'd rather passers-by not know there's a lock at all.
What MoLock does The lock screen poses as a Windows Update, a shutdown, a blue screen or "No signal" — and you still type your password to open it.
Choose a decoy screen in Settings.
-
You need to lock in an instant
Someone walks in unexpectedly while something private is on screen.
What MoLock does The panic hotkey locks instantly, turns the screen off and sends you an alert.
Optional: choose a panic hotkey that suits you in Settings.

Study, exams & remote work
Focus without interruptions, privacy on calls, and a lock that never cuts into your lecture.
-
Exam season
You're studying and your younger brother wants the PC for "only five minutes".
What MoLock does Lock it and make the lock screen useful: a Pomodoro timer, a countdown to the exam and prayer times.
Add the widgets you want in Settings — fully in Arabic when the app is set to Arabic.
-
A long online lecture
A two-hour lecture, and you won't touch the keyboard.
What MoLock does Pause auto-lock for a set time; it resumes by itself afterwards, so you never forget to turn it back on.
From the tray or with
/pause 2h— anywhere from 5 minutes to 7 days. -
Working from home
The work laptop is at home, and the children are playing around it during your break.
What MoLock does Lock it with your hotkey as you get up, so stray clicks and keystrokes can't affect your work. If you'd rather the lock screen not appear in screen recordings, there's an option to exclude it.
Your lock hotkey, and the exclude lock screen from capture option in Settings.
