General
What is MoLock?
MoLock is a free privacy screen lock for Windows 10 and 11. It covers your PC with an elegant lock screen while you are away, and you unlock it by typing your password anywhere on screen. If someone approaches the locked PC, their photo reaches your Telegram in about a second. A wrong password triggers intruder capture: photos and a video clip with sound. You can also control the whole PC from your own private Telegram bot, keep notes, to-dos and reminders, and, if you wish, see them in your private portal.
Is MoLock free?
Yes. Everything that protects your PC is free and stays free, with no ads: locking, intruder photos, alerts, the account and dashboard, remote control, your 7ot.app email and the basic tools. Since 3.0 there is an optional Premium plan for people who need more — more PCs and storage, family controls, the pro converter and session recording. It comes with a serial; there are no card payments on the site.
Premium & serials
What's the difference between Free and Premium?
Free includes full protection, 2 PCs, 500 MB of storage, mail, 60 remote minutes a day, the basic converter and 30 days of history. Premium raises that to 10 PCs, 20 GB, unlimited remote minutes with recording, the pro converter, 400 days of history, family for up to 6 members and priority support. The full table is on the Premium page.
How do I get Premium? Do I pay on the site?
There are no card payments on the site. Premium comes with a serial sold directly by MoLock's developer — use "How to get a serial" on the Premium page and tell us how many PCs and for how long.
7ot.app email
Is the 7ot.app email free?
Yes, on every plan. You can send up to 20 messages a day on Free (500 with Premium), and mail shares your account storage with files and recordings.
Can anyone read my mail?
Each message is stored encrypted to a mail key only your account holds, so the service can't read stored messages. Email by nature crosses the internet as normal email before it arrives — for very sensitive files, use end-to-end encrypted share links.
Family & parental controls
Is Family free?
Family is a Premium feature, with up to 6 members by default. Everything else in MoLock stays free.
How does my child ask for more time?
When the allowance runs out, the PC shows "Ask for more time" with an optional reason. You get it in the dashboard, the bot or as a push notification, and choose +15, +30 or +60 minutes, or decline.
Converter
Which formats can MoLock convert?
Free: images (including HEIC, WebP and AVIF when Windows supports them), PDF basics, text and archives. With Premium: video, audio, office documents and ebooks, presets and batches over 20 files.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Conversion happens entirely on your PC. The only download is an engine pack on first use, verified before it's installed.
Notifications & alerts
Do I need Telegram to get alerts?
Not any more. Since 3.0 alerts can also arrive as push notifications in your browser or on your phone and by email, and you pick the channel for each kind of alert in the dashboard.
How do I turn on push on my phone?
Open 7ot.app/me/ and allow notifications. On iPhone, add the page to your Home Screen first, then turn notifications on from there.
Security & locking
How do I unlock? There is no password box.
That is by design. MoLock uses type-anywhere unlock: there is no box and no button. Type your password at any moment on the lock screen and the PC unlocks. A subtle pulse confirms that you are typing without revealing the password length.
I forgot my password. What should I do?
You have several ways back in: the recovery code from setup, an authenticator code (for example from Google Authenticator) if you enabled it, or a trusted USB key or Bluetooth device. From your Telegram bot you can send /resetpassword even while the PC is locked. If none of these is available, MoLock Fix closes the app and returns the PC to normal.
Telegram & remote control
How do I control my PC from my phone?
Through Telegram remote control. Once your private bot is linked, send /menu for an organized control panel covering locking, camera and evidence, screen and control, device status, and power. Direct commands are also available, such as /lock, /screenshot, /photo and /shutdown 10. See all commands.
Do I need Telegram?
No. Locking works without Telegram, and evidence is kept on your PC in the evidence timeline. Telegram adds alerts on your phone and remote control of your PC.
Portal, notes & reminders
What is the personal portal?
A private page you open from any browser, on your phone or any other device, to view and edit your notes, to-dos and reminders and review a history of every attempt to unlock your PC. Your portal address and personal code (it looks like XXXXX-XXXXX) are shown in MoLock's Settings, and you sign in with a portal password that you set in MoLock on your PC. The portal is entirely optional. Nothing in it can lock or unlock your PC, and a service outage never affects locking. Since 2.7 the portal is part of MoLock Account: you sign in with your account password plus a code from the official bot, and all your linked PCs are there. A 2.6 portal password keeps working for that PC until you link it to your account. Learn about the portal.
Can the developer or anyone else read my notes or see my photos in the portal?
No. Your notes, to-dos, reminders, history details and photos are encrypted on your PC before they leave, and they are decrypted only on your PC or in your own browser after you sign in. The service stores only scrambled data it cannot read, and your portal password never leaves your browser or PC. To be completely open, this is what the service can see: that an item exists, its type (note, to-do or reminder), when it changed and its size. For the unlock history: the time, the kind of result and whether there is a photo. For portal sign-ins: the time, whether it was allowed or denied, the approximate country and city, and the browser type. Your IP address itself is never stored. How your data is protected.
MoLock Account & the official bot
What is MoLock Account?
One account for every PC that runs MoLock. Open it from any browser to see each PC's status (locked or unlocked, online or offline) and control it remotely: lock, camera photo, screenshot, siren, an on-screen message, restart or shut down, locate and Lost mode. It also holds your notes, to-dos, reminders, sticky notes, the unlock history with photos, your files and share links. The account is tied to your Telegram account and guarded by the official bot, @MoLockOfficialBot, which sends your sign-in codes and reports every sign-in and every action. Take the tour.
Do I need an account, and is it free?
The account is free (with an optional Premium plan for more room) and entirely optional. MoLock works fully without it: locking, intruder photos, alerts, your personal Telegram bot and the tools. The account adds what a single PC can't do on its own: controlling several PCs from one place, reaching your data even while the PC is off, Lost mode, approving an unlock from your phone and share links. No email address is needed — your Telegram account is enough.
MoLock Remote — full remote control
Is MoLock Remote free?
Yes. Remote control and the direct connection are free with no ads, with 60 minutes a day on the Free plan by default. Unlimited minutes and session recording come with Premium. Your PC just needs 2.9 or later and to be linked to your account.
Do I need an app on my phone, or an approval on the PC?
Neither. Open your account in a browser, pick your PC and choose Remote. Signing in to your account — password plus Telegram code — is the permission. Because no approval is needed, the PC shows an indicator the whole time and the official bot tells you about every session. The feature can be switched off in the PC's Settings, or per PC from your account.
Walk-away lock
Does walk-away lock need Bluetooth?
It works best with Bluetooth on the PC, so it can sense your phone, watch or earbuds. Without it, MoLock still uses your phone on the same Wi-Fi, keyboard and mouse activity and — if you turn it on — the camera.
Will it lock while I'm still at my desk?
It is built not to. Several signals must agree, a one-minute walk test sets separate "away" and "back" thresholds, and a countdown with a Cancel button appears before every automatic lock. Typing or moving the mouse always counts as being here.
Focus & screen time
What exactly does screen time record?
Active minutes per app, per website (the site's name only) and per category, with idle time left out. It never records screenshots, keystrokes, window contents or full web addresses. Only daily totals reach your dashboard, end-to-end encrypted.
Does a focus session block apps completely?
Only the apps and sites you choose, and only during the session. They wait behind a calm card with "Back to work" — and a few extra minutes if you really need them.
Privacy guard
How do I know which app is using my camera?
The privacy guard lists every app that uses the camera or microphone and when. Apps you trust go on an allow-list; a new app triggers an alert with Allow, Camera off and Mic off buttons — on the PC, in the dashboard and on Telegram.
Does the shoulder-surfing guard save pictures?
No. It is opt-in, runs on your PC, looks only for how many faces are in front of the screen and discards each frame immediately. Nothing is written to disk or uploaded.
Prayer times
Which calculation method should I choose?
The one your local religious authority uses — for example the Egyptian General Authority of Survey in Egypt or Umm al-Qura in Saudi Arabia. Then fine-tune any prayer by a minute or two to match your mosque.
Do prayer times need the internet?
No. They are calculated on your PC from your city's coordinates, so the desktop and lock-screen widgets keep working offline.
Network guard
Which routers are supported?
Common TP-Link, Huawei and ZTE routers — including the ISP routers used in Egypt and the region — for connected devices, per-device usage, blocking and restart. Other routers can show total traffic when their standard status feature is on. If a model isn't supported, MoLock says so, and the network scan and alerts still work.
Is my router password uploaded anywhere?
Never. It is stored encrypted on your PC, protected by your Windows account. Only the PC talks to the router; the dashboard and the bot can only ask the PC to do something, such as block a device.
Dashboard & sign-in
What does "dashboard first" mean?
The MoLock Account dashboard is the reference for every feature: each one has a page with its live state, history and settings, and what you change there is applied by the PC. The Telegram bot follows the dashboard — your notification preferences and quiet hours decide what it sends, and its buttons do exactly what the dashboard's buttons do.
What is a passkey, and do I need one?
A passkey lets you sign in with your phone's or PC's fingerprint, face or PIN — no password and no code. It only works on the real MoLock site, so it can't be phished. It is optional; your password with one-tap Telegram approval keeps working.
Tools, Vault & clipboard
Why does PrintScreen now open MoLock's capture tool?
In 2.7, PrintScreen opens MoLock's capture tool: a region, a window or the whole screen, with arrows, text and highlights, blur for sensitive parts, or a screen recording as video or GIF. If you prefer the usual Windows behaviour, you can give the key back to Windows in Settings at any time. All the tools.
What do the right-click tools do?
Right-click any file to find the MoLock menu. For images: compress with a quality slider and a size preview, resize, convert between formats, remove the hidden location data, and combine several images into a PDF. For video and audio: convert, compress and make GIFs. For any file: check its fingerprint to confirm it is intact, encrypt it with a password, shred it for good, or create an encrypted share link. It all runs on your PC; nothing is uploaded unless you create a share link.
Privacy & data
What does MoLock send to the developer?
With "Send device stats" on: device name, Windows version, CPU, RAM and graphics card model, screen sizes, disk details, MoLock's own processor and memory use, the number of locks and wrong attempts in the last 24 hours, and the app version and language. With it off: only the app version, language and update channel. MoLock never sends your files, screen contents, keystrokes or Windows user name. Your notes, to-dos, reminders and unlock history are encrypted on your PC before they leave, and the developer cannot read them (details). Setup shows exactly this list, including what is never sent, with a switch to turn it off. Full details are in the privacy policy.
Is MoLock spyware? Can the developer see my camera?
No. Photos and videos go only to your own Telegram bot or stay on your PC, and the developer has no way to view them. If you turn on the unlock history in your portal, its photos are encrypted on your PC before they leave, and only your portal password unlocks them. The camera is used only while the PC is locked, for motion detection and the evidence features you control, or when you request it from your own bot. Motion detection analyzes the image on your PC only, and nothing is uploaded except the alert photo, which goes to your own bot.
Installation & updates
Do I need administrator rights?
Only once. Since 3.0 MoLock installs to the protected Program Files folder for everyone on the PC, so Windows asks for administrator approval at install. After that, updates are applied silently by the guard service with no prompt, and nothing else needs installing. Why this is safer.
How do I install MoLock?
Download the zip file (about 70 MB), extract it and run MoLock.exe. Since 2.6, the installer sets everything up in one flow: your password and recovery code, the lock-screen look with a live preview, your monitoring style (what to capture and when to alert you) and your own Telegram bot. Every option can be changed later. Step-by-step guide.
Troubleshooting
Does MoLock drain the battery or use a lot of CPU?
No. MoLock is lightweight while it runs in the background, and animated themes run only while the screen is locked. Recent releases made the themes considerably lighter on the processor. To save more, choose the Light effect level in Settings → Appearance; MoLock also offers adjustable performance modes and a reduced-motion option, and you can choose a calmer theme or turn the screen off while locked.
Which lock-screen effect level should I choose (Light, Medium, Heavy)?
Leave it on Auto and MoLock picks the right level for your PC. To choose yourself in Settings → Appearance: Heavy is recommended for PCs with a dedicated graphics card, Light suits older or modest PCs, and Medium sits in between. The level never affects protection, only how rich the motion is and how much work it takes.
