MoLock

Harder to tamper with. Easier to trust.

A privacy app should be hard to switch off. MoLock 3.0 moves into the protected Program Files folder, puts a password in front of its own settings, checks its own files at start-up, and installs updates silently — but only after verifying every file's signature.

01 / 08How it works

Install once. Protected from then on.

Setup asks for administrator approval once; after that, the MoLock guard service keeps the app updated without bothering you.

  1. 01Step 1/3

    Install for everyone

MoLock goes to Program Files with Start-menu and Desktop shortcuts and a normal entry in Windows' installed apps. Your personal data stays in your own Windows profile.

  2. 02Step 2/3

    Keep the launch password on

On by default after setup: opening the MoLock window — icon, Start menu, tray or a second launch — asks for your password.

  3. 03Step 3/3

    Updates take care of themselves

New versions download, are verified file by file, and are applied by the guard service — no admin prompt each time.

02 / 08What it does

Layers that stack. Quietly.

None of these layers changes how you use MoLock day to day. Together they make it much harder to disable or modify.

  • Protected folder

Only administrators can change files in Program Files — malware running as you can't.

  • Launch password

Nobody at your unlocked desk can open MoLock and switch protection off.

  • Wrong tries are recorded

Each wrong password is logged, with an intruder photo if you enabled it.

  • Owner alerts

Wrong tries reach you on the channels you choose: dashboard, bot, push or email.

  • Lockout

After several wrong tries the window stays locked for a while.

  • Self-check at start-up

MoLock compares its own files with a signed list and refuses tampered ones.

  • Settings tamper protection

Settings are sealed to your Windows account and checked for edits made outside MoLock.

  • Bigger vault files

The vault drive now handles files up to 4 GB — setup lifts Windows' small default limit.

03 / 08Moving to 3.0

Your old install moves itself. Your data stays put.

If you installed MoLock before 3.0 in your user folder, the 3.0 update moves it to Program Files once, with a single approval. Settings, vault and history are untouched.

  • Desktop shortcutA new Desktop icon alongside the Start menu entry — both protected by the launch password.
  • Windows 11 right-click menuMoLock's tools move to the first-level menu once the code-signed edition ships; until then they sit under "Show more options".
  • Settings and data carry overYour per-user data was never in the app folder, so nothing needs to be set up again.

04 / 08Privacy

Verified before anything runs.

Updates and engine packs are described in MoLock's signed update information. If a single file doesn't match, it is rejected — never installed.

  • Signed update information

The list of versions, file sizes and fingerprints is signed with MoLock's key and checked on your PC.

  • Silent, not blind

No prompt doesn't mean no checks: every update is verified before the guard service applies it.

  • Your password stays local

The launch password is checked on the PC; it is never sent anywhere.

05 / 08Dashboard & bot

Someone tried your PC? You'll know.

Wrong launch-password attempts are security events: they reach you through every channel you enabled, even during quiet hours.

  • An alert with the time, the PC and — if enabled — the intruder photo.
  • Lock the PC now, from the dashboard or the bot.
  • See every PC's MoLock version in the dashboard.

06 / 08Limits

Exactly what it does. And what it doesn't.

  • Administrator approval once

Installing to Program Files needs an administrator once. On a work PC, ask your IT team.

  • Don't forget the password

The launch password is the same as your MoLock password; recovery works as before through your account or bot.

  • Code signing is on its way

Windows may still show its "unknown publisher" notice until the signed edition is released.

  • Not an antivirus

MoLock protects itself and your privacy; keep Windows Security on for malware.

08 / 08Questions

Safer install & launch password

All questions

Do I need administrator rights?

Only once. Since 3.0 MoLock installs to the protected Program Files folder for everyone on the PC, so Windows asks for administrator approval at install. After that, updates are applied silently by the guard service with no prompt, and nothing else needs installing. Why this is safer.

How do I install MoLock?

Download the zip file (about 70 MB), extract it and run MoLock.exe. Since 2.6, the installer sets everything up in one flow: your password and recovery code, the lock-screen look with a live preview, your monitoring style (what to capture and when to alert you) and your own Telegram bot. Every option can be changed later. Step-by-step guide.

Windows says "Windows protected your PC". What should I do?

This is the SmartScreen warning that Windows shows for newer apps that are not yet widely distributed. Click "More info", then "Run anyway". Always download MoLock from the official website only.

Does MoLock need an internet connection?

Locking and unlocking work offline. An internet connection is needed only for Telegram and alerts, updates, and some widgets such as weather and currency rates. If you go offline, evidence is held and sent as soon as you reconnect. Notes, to-dos and reminders work offline too, and sync with your portal when you are back online.

How do updates work?

Signed updates download in the background, are verified as genuine and unmodified, and install at a quiet moment, never while the PC is locked. MoLock creates a backup first and rolls back if anything goes wrong. Your password, settings and evidence are never touched, and you are notified when an update completes or fails. Since 2.5 you can update from your bot with /update: see what is new and the download size, follow the progress, and even while locked choose to install now (the PC locks again immediately) or after you unlock. Automatic updates can be turned off in Settings → About, although critical releases may still install.

How do I uninstall MoLock, and what is MoLock Fix?

In Settings, under Reset & uninstall, click "Uninstall MoLock…". MoLock stops the guard service, removes its startup entries, lets you keep or remove your data and cleans up downloaded updates. Uninstall removes only MoLock's own files; anything else in the same folder is left untouched. MoLock Fix, located in the MoLock folder, is a repair tool: it closes MoLock, restores Task Manager and an unresponsive mouse, and can remove everything MoLock added. It shows exactly what it will delete before it starts and keeps a log of what it did.

Why does MoLock 3.0 install to Program Files?

It's a protected folder only administrators can change, so malware can't easily tamper with MoLock. You approve once at install; after that, updates are applied silently once their signature checks out. Older installs move automatically and your data stays in your profile. Details.

Why does MoLock ask for my password when I open it?

So nobody at your unlocked desk can open Settings and switch protection off. It's on by default after setup; each wrong try is logged and alerts you, and MoLock locks for a while after several tries.
